Post versus Times

Here’s an article in the Washington Post that is quite complimentary of Kerry’s campaigning This is in contrast to the typical style of similar articles written in the New York Times, whose political reporters have a strong tendency to throw in dismissive comments whenever they get a chance. For an example, see this article from earlier this week.

"They tell me there are 15,000 or more people here," Mr. Kerry said, glancing up at the crowd. "I'm happy to hear that because I took the over on 11,000."

Get it? Gambling joke? Vegas?

Wait, there's more. "We have to get this economy moving," Mr. Kerry said a bit later, "because there is nothing worse than an unemployed flying Elvis."

Asked aboard his campaign plane Thursday night where he gets this material, Mr. Kerry hurried back to his cabin without answering.

Unfortunately, this isn't at all out of the ordinary for the Times' politcal reporters, apparently --- at least when covering Democrats --- as you can find out by perusing the archives of The Daily Howler.
