It would be quite a capper on these great national (not Texas) election results if Rep. Richard Pombo (R-CA) went down to defeat at the hands of Democrat Jerry McNerney.
Meanwhile, we wait on who will control the Senate. With Dem leads outstanding (as of 12:22 AM CST) in Montana and Missouri and Virginia with a razor-thin Dem margin, things are looking up for the good guys. How will it all turn out in the end, though?
Update (1:08 AM): CBS claims McCaskill has won in Missouri! She has apprently declared victory as well. The incumbent Republican, Talent, is conceding as I write this. McCaskill has nearly a 40,000 vote lead (50%-47%). Webb has declared victory in Virginia, and his thin lead may well grow as the final votes are counted.
Is it all coming down to Montana where Tester has a 4% lead with 36% of the vote remaining?
